La Palma

Santa Cruz de La Palma - Puerto is the starting point of this tour.

We will travel along the coastline of the city to get to the highest area of the municipality. There we will visit the The Royal Island Shrine of Nuestra Señora La Virgen de Las Nieves, one of the oldest Marian statue in the Canary Islands, sculpted in the 14th century and worshiped by the people of La Palma. The temple is a veritable sacred art museum which has some of the most important Flemish sculptures in Spain on display.

After this stop, we will continue our way to La Concepción Viewpoint from where you can enjoy the best panoramic views of the capital city, Santa Cruz de la Palma, at an altitude of 400 metres above sea level.  

After this stop, we will continue through the municipality of Villa de Mazo to arrive to  Fuencaliente, where we will stand at the top of San Antonio volcano, a watchtower that rises 650 metres above sea level and from where you can witness great panoramic views of both the southern and southwest coast of the island. 

We will descend from the San Antonio volcano to the Fuencaliente lighthouse, passing by the Teneguía volcano, the last subaerial eruption ocurred in Spain, back in October 1.971. This spectacular landscape is formed by the lava of the Teneguía volcano, the youngest soils in Spain until its eruption in 2.021. It is also the last stretch of the well-known "The Volcano Trail", which runs along the ridge of the Cumbre Vieja Natural Park. 

Once at the lighthouse, we will enjoy one of the most impressive landscapes on the island, the Fuencaliente's Salt Pans, a place full of contrasts where the white salt, the black volcanic earth and the blue sea paint a picture of immense beauty. It is worth mentioning that these salt pans have been declared a Site of Special Scientific Interest due to the variety of migratory birds that inhabit and rest there.
